But how do you know if you should choose a work from home program or a regular job. Sometimes this decision is not very ease, especially if you have a great regular job that you enjoy doing. So, what are the good things about the working from home job opportunities and the regular jobs?

You should choose a regular job over a work from home opportunity if you don't have the patience to allow your internet business to begin working (which is why most people quit their online jobs). Many people start to work online and instead of making a lot of money and being happy, they decide to quite before they have even started. And if you are one of them, then it will be better if you stick to your regular job, instead of trying something new, because there is no sense in simply wasting your time.

You would be better off with a work from home opportunity if you are motivated to succeed. Working from home has a lot of privileges - you will be working fewer hours, you will be spending time with your family, and you will be making a lot of money. But this type of work is not for everyone and you should be confident and patient if you want to actually get your online business going. Take your time to find out exactly how it works so that you aren't wasting any time and making any mistakes.

If you know that you can do it and you do want to have a better life, then you can check out the Freedom Goal website for such an opportunity. It doesn't require much out of you and you won't be disappointed.

Albert_Wilson

Between The Idea And Work - Course Of Musical Data Processing

If musical data processing is essential us so much today, it is that it gradually created tools which are radically modifying the manner of thinking the music. However, its history is short. It merges with the development of numerical technologies: computers, initially, accompanied by creation by the languages symbolic intended for the programming, then with a whole troop of inventions in numerical technology. Enough early in its history, data processing will be shown sufficiently ripe to accommodate concerns of all kinds, energy of accountancy to scientific research, while passing naturally by what interests us, artistic creation.

And it is undoubtedly there that it is necessary to distinguish what arises from data processing itself, and what belongs rather to the broader world of numerical technology. The music amply draws from these two fields its new resources. However, since the field of the sound is converted today into audio numerical, the distinction is essential. Musical data processing is born from the meeting of the musical concerns and the environment resulting from numerical technologies and the specificity of the computer, on the one hand, and of the scientific fields which clarify its research topics. If the musical composition appears there in good place, practically all the other activities of the music are found there. And musical research partly covers the ground cleared by data processing, acoustics, the treatment of the signal, even cognitive psychology: thus musical data processing is at the center of several musical, scientific and technical fields.

But it is the recourse to the specific contributions of the data processing which characterizes its step. New conceptual tools are unceasingly provided by the artificial intelligence, which are concretized by languages such as Lisp or Prolog. They are put at once at the musicologist assistance or abstracting service to the composition. Research in systems real time and on the interfaces interactive makes it possible to conceive new connections between the instrumentalist and the electronic universe.

Great stages of musical data processing

With the origin of musical data processing, one finds two types of activities, independent one of the other. If these activities prudent today, it is in another manner that the original vision which caused their birth could enable to foresee. These two types of activities are: the musical composition, and production of the sound. In both cases, the manufacture of the desired result is ensured by the computer. These two types of activities are appreciably contemporary. The first serious tests of musical composition per computer go back to 1956: it is on this date that Lejaren Hiller calculated a partition using rules encodes in the form of algorithms on the computer Illiac I of the university of Illinois. It is about Illiac Suite for String Quartet, whose three movements are carried out this year by the string quartet WQXR. In a famous structure, published in 1959 and which supports the title of “Experimental Music-Composition with year Electronic Computer”, Lejaren Hiller explains in detail the procedures that it applied to the Illiac computer in order to produce the partition of his string quartet.

To locate this period, it is as into 1956 as John McCarthy forged the term of artificial intelligence. One year later, max Mathews, researcher at the laboratories of the Bell Telephone, in the New Jersey, a first numerical programmer of synthesis of the sound for the computer IBM 704 writes. Known today under the name of Music I, it is the first of a great family of acoustic compilers; a psychologist, Newman Guttman, generates first a one 15 seconds duration study, In the Silver Scale. It is as into 1957 as the four movements of the Continuation Illiac for String Quartet of Lejaren Hiller are published; the same year is born the primitive version from the famous language of FORTRAN program (FORmula TRANslator). Let us note that during the creation of the work of Hiller by the string quartet WQXR, it is max Mathews which organized a recording, which gave place, thereafter, with the publication of this recording in a disc carried out in 1960 by the Bell Laboratories, and entitled Music from Mathematics: even if the ways traced by these two inventors are independent, it is not known as that they did not cross…

From these two almost contemporary events, the development will continue, gradually, in the traced directions: the composition and production of the sound. We will see low the courses of them. But a third way is not long in appearing: it is born from the same observation that had made Hiller: the computer is above all, at that time, a formidable calculating machine. Moreover, the English term of selected computer indicated, before the appearance of these machines, the employees charged to operate calculations. But at the same time, with a bit of fear, one spoke readily at the time of electronic brains. An artist could not approach the computer not without a certain emotion, which explains without any doubt the attraction sometimes terrifying that data processing will exert on the artists of the following decades. But they are two scientists who are at the origin of these experiments: Hiller practiced chemistry, while Mathews was an already famous researcher. It is undoubtedly what explains remarkable methodologies that they reflect in place, each one on their side, and with completely independent aims.

With the Bell laboratories, max Mathews, on his side, written in 1957 a first numerical programmed of synthesis of the sound for the computer IBM 704, equipped with 4096 words of memory. Known today under the name of Music I, it is the first of a great family. The program Music III (1960) introduced the concept of instrument modular. The model imagined by max Mathews is inspired more than one equipment of laboratory or an electronic studio of music that by an acoustic stringed-instrument trade. The program offers a range of independent modules (Unit Generators), in charge each one of an elementary function: oscillator with form of programmable wave, adder of signals, multiplier, generator of envelopes and random signals, etc… The musician builds a “instrument” by connecting a selection of modules between them. The signals produced by the oscillators or the generators are led towards other modules there to be modified or mixed. Several instruments can be joined together within a “orchestra”, each instrument having its own identity. Contrary to what occurs in the material universe, it there not of limit to the number of modules usable simultaneously, except perhaps the memory of the computer. The result of the placement of the instrument is the progressive calculation of the sound in the form of a sequence of numbers which, put end to end, represent a complex sound wave. These numbers are called “samples”. Today, the number of samples representing one second of its was established to 44 100 per channel for the applications general public, and to 48 000 for the professional field.

Because of relative slowness of the machines and design weight to be carried out, time put to generate the sound wave is quite higher than the duration of the sounds; the operation of these programs is known as “in differed time”. With the origin, the sound waves calculated in numerical form were stored on a numerical tape progressively proceeding end of an arithmetic unit of samples. This mode of production of the sound is called “direct synthesis”. Thus creates for itself a “file of sound”; once completed, the musician calls upon a second program, charged reading the file of sound in real time and with sending the samples towards a digital-to-analog converter, which is connected to an amplifier and loudspeakers.

To activate the orchestra, the musician must write a “partition”, in which all the parameters claimed by the modules of the instrument are specified. This partition is presented in the form of a list of numbers or telegraphy codes, each “note” or a each event being the subject of a particular list. These lists are ordered in time.

But to specify each parameter is a difficult task, more especially as the musicians are not trained to give values measured to sound dimensions which they handle. To fight against this obstacle, of the languages of assistance to the writing of partitions were conceived; most known is the Score program of Leland Smith (1972). Score is not an automatic program of composition: it makes it possible to specify the parameters using terms resulting from the musical practice (heights, nuances, durations), automatically to calculate changes of tempo or nuances, and even to supplement sections with notes corresponding to a trajectory given by the type-setter.
The model instrument-partition was firmly established with the arrival of Music IV (1962). This program were born from many alternatives, of which some exist indeed still today. Among these misadventures, let us quote Music 4BF (1966-67), there is nowadays a version for Macintosh (Music 4C, 1989), and especially Music 360 of Barry Vercoe (1968); this descendant of Music IV has as a characteristic to be presented in the form of a true programming language, which undoubtedly explains why it became today with C-Music the acoustic compiler more used. It was initially adapted to minicomputer PDP-11 from DIGITAL in 1973, then, entirely rewritten in language C in 1985, it took the name of C-Sound, and was quickly adapted to all kinds of data-processing platforms, including the micro-computers like Atari, Macintosh and IBM. In 1969 Music V appears, a program which is conceived to facilitate the musical programming of the instruments and the partitions; nowadays, Music V is still largely employed, generally in the form of the adaptation that in made Richard Moore, C-Music (1980).

The computer was also an unquestionable success in a strongly speculative field, the musicologists analysis. With the eyes of the public interested at the beginning of the Sixties, data processing, still rather mysterious and inaccessible, showed the possibility for strange musical work; in composition, in musicology and finally, limited to the laboratories Bell, production of sound. A great musical upheaval of this decade was to come from the world of electronics, with the appearance into 1964 of the synthesizers modular, known as “analogical” since they do not contain numerical electronics. Conceived independently by Paolo Ketoff (Rome), Robert Moog and Donald Buchla (the United States), the synthesizers bring the response to the technological aspirations of many musicians, especially after the popular success of the disc Switched one Bach of Walter Carlos who truly made know these instruments near a large audience. During this time, the program of Mathews knows adaptations on other sites, such as the universities of New York, Princeton or Stanford.

Another application of the computer appears with the piloting of analogical instruments. The machine generates signals with slow variation which modify the adjustments of devices of studio: frequency of oscillators, profit of amplifiers, cut-off frequencies of filters. The first example of this system which one names “hybrid synthesis” was established in 1970 in Elektron Musik Studio of Stockholm, foundation independent since 1969, financed by the Royal Academy of Music, and placed under the direction of Knut Wiggen. A computer PDP 15/40 controlled twenty-four generators of frequency there, a generator of white vibration, two third filters of octave, modulators: out of ring, of amplitude and reverberations. The originality of the system of Stockholm lay in an extremely ergonomic operator console, with which the type-setter could specify the parameters of synthesis by sweeping a panel of figures using a metal brochette. Another studio is to be quoted: that of Peter Zinovieff in London (1969), placed under the control of a minicomputer DIGITAL PDP 8 for which Peter Grogono wrote the language of Musys piloting.

Another remarkable realization is the system Groove (Generated Realtime Operations One Equipment Voltage-controlled, Ca 1969) conceived at the Bell laboratories by max Mathews and Richard Moore. Groove is an instrument intended for the control of parameters of interpretation of a device of synthesis. In this direction, it places the musician more close to the position of a leader that to a type-setter or an instrumentalist, although one can consider that the electronic type-setter of music must often place himself in position of chief, by directly interpreting the music which is made up.

It is the middle of the Seventies which marks the transition towards an inexorable widening from now on from the life of musical data processing, with the appearance of the microprocessor. A data-processing stringed-instrument trade will become gradually possible with the design of complete computers on an integrated circuit: microprocessors. It will also be necessary that the interface with the user improves, and that the punch cards by a more interactive mode of inputs are replaced: it will be the keyboard and the cathode ray tube which will carry it.

The principle of the hybrid synthesis continued to be applied throughout the Seventies, before being supplanted definitively by the numerical synthesizers at the dawn of the Eighties. The American company Intel markets since 1971 the first microprocessor, the circuit 4004, which allow the design of genuine miniature computers, the microcomputers: Intellec 8 (conceived starting from microprocessor 8008 of 1972), Apple I, Altair (1975), gathered soon under the name of micro-computers.

The experiment musical of the Art Group and Data processing of Vincennes (GAIV) illustrate this time of transition well. This team, founded to the university of Paris 8 by Patrick Greussay and a team of artists and architects, known for the publication of a bulletin diffusing the research tasks in most recent art and data processing, entrusted to the type-setter Giuseppe Englert the musical coordination of her activities. It is Intellec 8, microcomputer with words of eight bits, ordered by a paper tape and a keyboard, which was used with the compositionally activities and as research on musical formalization; English synthesizers EMS-VCS3 were controlled by the microcomputer, via digital-to-analog converters charged to provide power of order in exchange of the binary data calculated by interactive programs.

The second effect of the arrival of the microcomputer was the design of the “mixed synthesis”, synthesizers numerical, genuine computers adapted to the calculation of the sound wave in real times, placed under the control of a computer. From second half of the Seventies appear several achievements of this type; we will retain work of James Beauchamp, Jean-François Allouis, William Buxton, inter alia, like those of Peter Samson (synthesizer of Systems Concept, conceived for the research center -- CCRMA -- university of Stanford), Synclavier de New England DIGITAL Corporation, conceived by Syd Alonso and Cameron Jones under the impulse of the type-setter Jon Appleton, design, under the impulse of Luciano Berio, of a bench of oscillators in Naples by Giuseppe di Giugno, who continued his work in Ircam (series 4A, 4B, 4C and 4X) under the direction of Pierre Boulez; more recently, Fly 30 of the Center of recherché musical of Rome. Let us note that with the 4X of Ircam (1980), the term of synthesizer disappears, replaced by that of numerical processor of signal, which undoubtedly moves the accent on the general information of the machine.

The industry of the electronic instrument does not take a long time to adapt to these new developments. The first stage consisted in introducing microprocessors inside analogical synthesizers (Prophet synthesizers of the firm Sequential Circuits), charged to control the modules ordered in tension; it is still of the “hybrid synthesis”. The second stage follows soon: it consists in designing genuine entirely numerical musical instruments. It is the noticed arrival of Synclavier II, then of Fairlight.

The industrial field is today initially made up by the market of the synthesizers and the processors of the sound, and by the software which makes it possible to exploit them. Today, all the synthesizers are numerical, and necessarily meet the Midi standard. The field of the synthesizers is double: on the one hand apparatuses, often provided with a keyboard, which propose a choice of preprogrammed sounds which one can vary certain parameters by an elementary process of programming; in addition, the machines which are intended to reproduce sounds beforehand recorded and memorized, or stored on mass memory: samplers, or “samplers”.

It should be noted that all these technologies become accessible to the private musician, within the framework of what is called commonly the “personal studio” (home studio).

But these machines, and a fortiori the personal studio do not function without adapted software: the sequencers control the execution of a piece directly starting from a computer, the editors of sound are intended for the treatment, the assembly and the mixing of sound sequences. Programs make it possible to write a partition, which from now on is usually employed by the musical edition. Lastly, the machines can also be placed under the control of supplementary programmes to the composition.

The most original character of the contemporary data-processing stringed-instrument trade is the “workstation”. To conceive a workstation consists in gathering programs of various nature, intended for the analysis or the synthesis of the sound, the control of the sound or the composition. These programs are integrated within data-processing a “environment” organized around a computer and of its peripherals, intended for the treatment of the sound on line. It is the case of the plug-in charts which, coupled to a software, make it possible to read “files of sound” stored on a disc, in exchange of an order, coming for example from a Midi source. This system, if new that it did not find yet a name true, is generally indicated like “hard” or “direct-to-disk” disk.

The musical representation

Since the computer, unlike the electronic music of studio, claims a specification of the data, and thus a writing, the question of the musical representation is a constant concern of the field. We will see two answers. The first illustrates a step a priori compositionnelle: that of Xenakis. The second, more general, is the Midi standard.

Iannis Xenakis innovates with the design of the UPIC (Unit Polyagogique Informatique of CEMAMu). Conceived in the middle of the Seventies, this system rises naturally from the approach of the synthesis of the sound by this type-setter: within the team which it had joined together, baptized initially Emamu (Team of Mathematics and Musical Automatic, 1966), and with the financing of the Foundation Gulbenkian, Xenakis had made build a digital-to-analog converter of high quality. The UPIC represents a complete environment of composition with, in result, the sound synthesis of the page of made up music. Become in 1971 CEMAMu (Center of Mathematics and Musical Automatic) because of the creation of a place intended to shelter its research, the team joined together around Xenakis conceives a system making it possible to the type-setter to draw on a broad table of architect of the “arcs time-height”, by choosing for each arc a temporal trajectory, a form of wave, a nuance. The music thus is initially represented in graphic form. The programs of the first UPIC are written for a minicomputer Solar 16/65, connected to two bodies of magnetic tapes to store the programs and the samples, a digital-to-analog converter, a cathode ray tube making it possible to post the forms of waves, but also to draw these waves using a graphic pencil. To hear the page which it has just drawn, the type-setter must wait until the computer finished to calculate all the samples; the generation of the sound is ensured by a digital-to-analog converter of high quality. More recently, the UPIC was redrawn for microcomputer, and functions without delay.

To represent the sound in the form of a modifiable image, it is the goal of the Phonograms program, designed at the university Paris 8 per Vincent Lesbros. With the manner of a sonograms, the program posts the spectral analysis like a drawing, which can be modified; the new representation can then be synthesized, either by Midi, or in the shape of a file of sound, or even transformed into Midi file.

The reproach often today is heard that the generation of young musicians who approach technology through the environment created around the Midi standard are not a satisfactory aware of not passed of musical data processing and its problems. But is to forget that, in a direction, the birth of the Midi standard was done without true filiation with the preceding stages of the field which one will name musical data processing. The phenomenon which represents Midi is not at all a misadventure of this field.

The Midi standard was developed in 1983 to allow the piloting of several synthesizers starting from one only keyboard; the messages are transmitted in numerical format, according to a well defined protocol. With the origin, Midi is thus well based on instrumental gesturer control: it is a method to represent not the sound, but the gesture of the musician who plays of a Midi instrument. In 1983 leaves the first synthesizer to have an interface Midi, Prophet 600 of Sequential Circuits. What had not been defined, on the other hand, it is the success which this standard was going quickly to gain, which today is used to inter-connect all the machines of a studio of electronic music, and even the sets of lights of a scene.

Musical research

The work undertaken since 1956 by Lejaren Hiller for the composition of Illiac Suite for String Quartet marks at the same time the true birth of musical data processing and the anchoring of this field in the research, applied in this case to the automatic composition. The computer appeared then as a machine making it possible to treat the complex continuations of operations which characterize the composition of ambitious musical works. This way was going to be reinforced since 1958 by the French type-setter Pierre Barbaud, who melts in Paris the Algorithmic Group in connection with the company Bull-General Electric and begins his research of automatic composition; as of the following year, the first algorithmic work of Barbaud was made up:

Unforeseeable innovations (Algorithm 1), with the collaboration of Pierre Blanchard. The program Musicomp de Lejaren Hiller and Robert Baker, of the same time, conceived for the Illiac computer after the composition of the Illiac Continuation, making university of Illinois one of the centers of musical data processing at that time. And when in 1962, Iannis Xenakis creates ST/10, 080262, work written thanks to the stochastic program ST developed since 1958 on a computer IBM 7090, the composition using the computer enters its golden age. In the Netherlands, Gottfried Michael Koenig writes in 1964 the program of composition Project I (1964), followed soon of Project II (1970). The composition computer-assisted rests on mathematics and the stochastic one, drawing largely from the resources of the processes of Markov (Hiller, Barbaud, Xenakis, Chadabe, Manoury).

With the arrival of the micro-computers a new tendency develops: assistance with the composition, then computer-aided design of composition (CAD). The program demiurge, able to generate a whole composition the model of an environment of data-processing tools charged succeeds to deal with precise musical problems. Let us quote among the principal ones: HMSL (Hierarchical Music Language Specification, 1985) with Mills College in California, Forms, created by Xavier Rodet, Draft and Patchwork, developed in Ircam under the impulse of Jean-baptiste Barrier, Experiment in Musical Intelligence of David Cope, at the university of Santa Cruz in California. These programs are open: they dialogue with the type-setter in an interactive way, and are connected to the universe of the Midi devices. Except for M and Jam Factory of Joel Chadabe and David Zicarelli, they are structured by the use of languages nonnumerical, resulting from the field of the artificial intelligence, such as Forth, and especially Lisp, which explains why they rest not on mathematics, as it was the case for the first generation of composition computer-assisted, but on the formal languages and the generative grammars.

Real time: computer and instrumental universe

The Eighties see developing the use of the computer in situation in concert; thanks to the arrival of the numerical synthesizers in real time, or, more generally, numerical processors of sound, and languages of control real time, the conditions are ripe to revisit this old surface of the music of the XXe century: electronic music on line (live electronic music). In the majority of the cases, it is initially a question of imagining a means of connecting the computer and its computing power to devices of synthesis or treatment of sound, with, if, possible, the interaction of musicians. Répons (1981), of Pierre Swell, by the integration of the procedures of treatment the writing itself, showed in what the computer became an instrument, integrated perfectly into the orchestra. Following this work work appears on the follow-up, by the computer, of the play of the instrumentalist, operation known under the name of “follow-up of partition”. Let us quote the contributions of Roger Dannenberg in the automatic accompaniment and the languages offering the conditions of the communication computer-instrument, those of max Mathews, initially with the Groove system, then more recently with its work on “Radio operator Drum” and the simulation of the rod of the chief orchestrates itself, Miller Puckette with the Max. program.

This is why one was in addition interested to give to instruments of orchestra this capacity, by providing them with sensors, allowing the computer to follow the execution (flute, vibraphone, etc…). All musical industry is concerned with this tendency, although the process to be used is not decided yet: it will be electromechanical (material sensors placed at strategic places of the instrument, conducting membranes, etc…), or will it be necessary to have recourse to the analysis for stolen of the sounds themselves to know of it the height, the spectral structure and the mode of play?

The community organizes itself

The ripening of musical data processing was accompanied by an assumption of responsibility by the community by the musicians and researchers by themselves. Gradually, the conscience of membership of a field is done day. The international congresses appear, followed later local conferences. The communications which are marked there are published in collections available for all the community. These meetings also give place to the presentation in concerts, which tends more strongly to weld between them the conscience of a new field, with the scientific and artistic components. It is the beginning of the “International Computer Music Conferences” (ICMC). In 1978 is born an organization intended to facilitate the communication and to help the behavior of the congresses, the “Computer Music Association”, which becomes in 1991 “International Computer Music Association” (ICMA). The organizers seek to hold the congress one year in North America, and the following year on another continent. These congresses see the ICMA taking a role growing in the assistance brought to the local organizers, like in the diffusion of the publications resulting from these meetings, going until placing from the orders of works which will be carried out during ICMC (ICMA Commission Awards, 1991).

Another vehicle which welds the conscience of membership of a common field is the Computer Music Journal. Appeared in California in 1977, it is taken again by MIT Press starting from volume 4 (1980). The newspaper is essential like the reference as regards scientific publications of the field. Association ICMA publishes a bulletin, Array, which became a body very appreciated of information and discussion on the current topics of musical data processing. The review Interface Dutchwoman, which becomes since 1994 Newspaper of New Music Research, regularly publishes articles on musical data processing. Canada, Musicworks, guided by Gayle Young, ensures information on a broad range of concerns of the new musics. In France, publications of Ircam, InHarmonique, then the books of Ircam open their columns with the aesthetic, theoretical and critical considerations which accompany sudden appearance by new technologies in arts.
In 1991 the Leonardo newspaper, published by the international association for arts, science and technology, founded in 1968 by Frank Malina, lance, under the direction of Roger Malina, Leonardo Music Journal, who bring a full vision of the musical practice related to new technologies, thanks also to the publication, with each number, of a compact disk. More theoretical, the review Languages of Design, under the direction of Raymond Lauzzana, is interested in formalization in the artistic procedures, and grants a broad place to musical data processing. With these traditional supports of information the direct communication between musicians and researchers by the means of the data-processing networks is added, allowing the instantaneous email. Lastly, the need to increase the speed of communication gave birth to the electronic newspapers, diffused by the networks such as Internet; released from the structure of manufacture, impression and routing, they allow the same type of access to information as the data banks which, they also, multiply in musical data processing.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Abu_Murad

Make Money Fast at Home

One of the fastest ways to make money is to get a second job. People tend to think that a home based business automatically means a daycare service or online sales. While these home businesses are often successful, it is not necessarily a dead end from there-there are dozens of other free home business ideas that you're going to learn about right now!

Desktop publishing is a field that can easily be turned into a home based business. In a nutshell, desktop publishers use a computer or laptop to produce quality printed documents. They use computer programs to format and combine text, photographs, data, graphic art, or illustrations into pages that will be printed. Desktop publishers may produce a variety of media such as books, brochures, calendars, magazines, magazines, newsletters, newspapers, packaging, and forms.

Most of the time, desktop publishers have a degree in desktop publishing, graphic imaging, graphic design, or another degree in that field. Another huge plus of desktop publishing is that the costs are minimal. There aren't specific supplies to get unless you don't own a computer. As long as you have your computer, your office, and your programs, you can start to build your clientele.

The next free home business idea is accounting. To earn a legitimate amount in this field, you will need to be a Certified Public Accountant or at least have a degree in a related field. As a home based accountant, you'd work for businesses and individuals by preparing financial reports, payroll, tax planning, and financial forms.

You'd need to be comfortable with numbers and detail oriented. Not to mention, organization is completely necessary. All you need for accounting is a fax machine, copier, calculator, and computer with spreadsheet, word processing, and database software. Additional software and reference material will be needed depending on the services that you offer.

The third free home business idea is a virtual assistant secretarial service. Usually, a virtual secretary will work for individuals, sole proprietors, and small businesses that don't have a need for a full time secretary. Virtual assistants can specialize in one area or they can offer a variety of services which can include: typing manuscripts, data entry, marketing, bookkeeping, transcription, writing proposals, schedule meetings, database management, billing, and the list goes on. As a VA you should be a quick and accurate typist, you should understand the internet, you should be great with computers, you should know the word processing and spreadsheet programs, and you should have business management skills.

Another possibility is online tutoring. This field is becoming increasingly popular by the day. As an online tutor, you'd help people in certain academic and nonacademic subjects or you may have your own courses and workshops. A website is an essential in this field because it will provide all of the necessary information for potential customers. Your website would tell what specific areas you tutor in, have resources for your subjects, online courses and workshops, and a user interface to interact in the classes. As an online tutor, there are also some extra ways to bring in the cash. You can sell ad space on your website for advertisements or join an affiliate program.

So take a look into these free home business ideas and then add your own touch.

Copyright © Natasha Williams

About the Author:

To find the best top ten home business ideas and opportunities so you can work at home visit: http://www.FreeAdsOnline.info

Natasha Williams is the owner of Free Ads Online.info and writes on a variety of subjects. This is usually calculated on the before tax cash flow, and is typically expressed as a percentage.

Cash-on-cash returns are most accurate when calculated on the first year's expected cash flow. It becomes less accurate and less useful when used on future years because this calculation does not take into account the time-value of money (the principle that your money today will be worth less in the future).

Therefore, the cash-on-cash return is not a powerful measurement, but it makes for an easy and popular "quick check" on a property to compare it against other investments. For example, a property might give you a 7% cash return in the first year versus a 2.5% return on a bank CD.

The cash-on-cash return is calculated by dividing the annual cash flow by your cash invested:

Annual Cash Flow / Cash Invested = Cash-on-Cash Return

Let's make sure we understand the two parts of this equation:

The first-year cash flow (or annual cash flow) is the amount of money we expect the property to generate during its first year of operation. Again, this is usually cash flow before tax.

The initial investment (or cash invested) is generally the down payment. However, some investors include their closing costs such as loan points, escrow and title fees, appraisal, and inspection costs. The sum of which is also referred to as the cost of acquisition.

Let's look at an example. Let's say that your property's annual cash flow (before tax) is $3,000. And let's say that you made a 20% down payment equal to $30,000 to purchase the property. In this example your cash-on-cash return would be 10%.

$3,000 / $30,000 = 10%

Although the cash-on-cash return is quick and easy to calculate, it's not the best way to measure the performance and quality of a real estate investment. The reason affiliate promotion is such a good business for those seeking to work at home is because it can be profitable almost immediately, and can be setup virtually for free.

So for those seeking the best work from home job, I will provide you with a brief introduction.

The idea is actually quite simple. Affiliate marketing is a process by which marketers are encouraged to promote another’s product for a share of the profit. And actually, for those of you looking for the best work from home job, the commissions from sales that you generate can be as high as 75% of the sale price.

In order to sell products, the owner will need to drive traffic to his or her website or online store. The only way to do this is through advertising and visibility, so that is basically what the best work from home job will be doing! By increasing traffic, sales will also increase, so some business owners create affiliate programs to create what I believe is the best work from home job.

Almost anyone can sign up to be an affiliate marketer. The two best places I would recommend are Clickbank for informational products and Commission Junction for physical products. Once you sign up, you are under no obligation to achieve any kind of sales quota or pay any sort of membership fee. So the best work from home job, affiliate marketing, will not require you to be an actual employee and you will thus be working for yourself.

From that point forward, your success will be entirely dependent on your own marketing skills and techniques… as long as you select a marketable product! So, the harder and smarter you work, the more profitable the best work from home job will be!

Jack Lowry is an online home business entrepreneur who recently developed a free 5-step course on learning how to start your own internet home business. But you should only look in some places to make sure you find job
reliable and secure work at home jobs without getting scam.

1) The first way to find scam free jobs is to go to classified ad sites, where
hundreds of people are listing jobs every day. One of the most recognized sites
is craigslist.org, there you can find jobs based on your geographic location and
on what you are looking for.

On craigslist.org you will find categories such as accounting, admin, design,
business, customer service, education, marketing, writing, etc There is a vast
amount of jobs to choose from, but you have to be selective and just choose a
work where you can contact the person by phone and it doesen't require you to
invest any money.

2) You can search on Monster.com, this is a very big site, where you can search
among thousands of job posts, either online jobs or traditional jobs from every
country. As always be careful to choose a scam free work at home job, some will
try to sell you a business opportunity and that's not what you want.

3) My favorite way to find scam free work at home jobs is to go to the freelance
networks sign up with them. You will be able to see hundreds of job posts every
day, where employers hire employees per project or on an ongoing basis. Basically
you search for a work you want to do and you bid how much you want to get paid to
get work done. Once the payment of the employer is escrow you make the work in
the deadline specified and once you deliver the work your payment is released, so
both parts are secure, everyone get paid and the relationship can continue.

When choosing a scam free work at home job, be careful to follow proper
guidelines like, making sure you will get paid, have a contact phone number, ask
questions to the employer before you accept the job, so you can be sure what you
will be doing. If you follow this basic step you will find a good work at home
job in no time.

Claim your Free Report on How to make passive income online and Learn how to find the best freelance jobs step by step, visit: http://howtogetridofyourjob.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ray_Ayuso

Typical Opportunities Found On A Free Home Job Directory

Whoever it was that said the best things in life are free, wasn't looking for a work at home opportunity. Or even better, a multi-millionaire! Who wouldn't. Imagine what it would feel like to write that check to your credit card company completely paying off your balance. How about all other loan balances? What would it feel like to have zero debt, and a million dollars in the bank?

On the other hand, maybe you're someone who's doing okay financially with no debt, but as humans don't we have an inherent desire for more! Sometimes no matter how much we have, we're still not satisfied. Be honest, how often do you visualize yourself behind the wheel of that yellow "lambo"?

We all have a right to be rich. But it's not about wanting money for money's sake. What good does it do if we don't have our health for example. But being wealthy gives us options. Wallace Wattles said it best in his book, The Science of Getting Rich, and I quote, "Your right to life means your right to have the free and unrestricted use of all things which may be necessary to your fullest mental, spiritual, and physical unfoldment. In other words, you have a right to be rich....the desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life."

I couldn't have said it better myself! Being poor doesn't help anyone.

So, how do you get rich? What's it going to take to achieve your financial goals, your lifelong dreams and your ultimate time freedom? I present to you my no-nonsense list of what it's going to take to make it big. These may seem obvious, but you'd be surprised at how many people I have met over the years who truly want success, but seem to overlook these very basic concepts. So here we go:

1. Get Off Your Butt!

Excuse my directness, but sitting around watching television will probably never get you there. I can't tell you how many people I've met who want to be wealthy, but sit around waiting for something to fall out of the sky and save them. In my opinion, there is no such thing as an overnight millionaire. Getting rich requires effort, so unless you have a rich uncle who will be passing away soon, or you plan on winning the lottery next week, then know that it's going to take effort. Make yourself a commitment to spend a little less time on non-income-producing activities, and rather invest the time in yourself and your future.

2. Stop Being Skeptical

If you're skeptical, and not open to opportunities, just stop now and figure out a way to get over yourself. Of course, it's okay to be cautious, do your due diligence before you hand someone your hard-earned money, but it all begins with being open to receive the opportunities that are presented to you. There are so many work from home businesses and other opportunities out there but don't write them all off as scams. It could be the one you thought was too good to be true that could have made you a millionaire! As Edwin Hubbel Chapin once said, "Skepticism has never founded empires, established principals, or changed the world's heart. The great doers in history have always been people of faith."

3. Stop Working For A Boss

Most people will never get rich working for someone else. I hate to use sweeping statements, so I say most people. There are always exceptions to the rules. But typically, you can't get rich working for a boss. You see, when you're doing that, you're being leveraged. Who typically makes more money, the owner of the company or the employee? Even when your boss is on the golf course he or she is still making money, but you have to work for every dollar you earn. Don't you want more control over your time and the money you make? Of course you do. And if you don't, then perhaps free enterprise isn't for you.

Now, I'm not saying you should walk into your boss's office today and quit, but at least start looking for something else you can do on a part time basis. It's time to start looking out for yourself and your family and stop building someone else's dream.

4. Stop Making Excuses

We're all guilty of this. We make excuses all the time for why we can't do something. Unless you're willing to get real with yourself and stop making excuses, you'll never get to where you want to go. You have to learn how to eliminate, or at least reduce to a minimum the constant self-talk you hear in your head all day long. That little voice that directs you throughout the day. And if you're thinking, "What voice?" well, it's that one you just heard! In my own business I have spoken to hundreds of people over the years who wanted to get rich, but weren't even willing to spend an hour with me to consult with them on a plan of action. I would get all kinds of excuses. You see, most people aren't willing to participate in their own rescue! It sounds crazy, but it's a reality. If you are constantly making up excuses, get to the root cause of why you're doing that because if you keep it up, you will most likely never achieve success.

5. Never Give Up!

So, what great article would be complete without a dumb, rhetorical question? So here's mine: What multi-millionaire ever got wealthy by quitting along the way? If you're going down this road, begin with the attitude that you will never quit no matter what. I can tell you, there will be challenges along the way, anyone who tells you it's going to be easy, or you'll make "quick-money" is probably handing you a line. I don't know a single millionaire who didn't fail multiple times along the way, but what separated them from everyone else who tried and failed is that they were not willing to quit. As Winston Churchill said, "Never, never, never quit!"

If you follow these very basic guidelines, your chances of achieving success will increase exponentially. Now go out there and create massive results for you and your family. The time for excuses is over.

Paul Zelig is an independent business owner and real estate investor. Competition for work at home jobs is fierce. There are many more people wanting a work at home job than there are work at home jobs available. That is why having a solid work at home resume is important.

There are five main points that a solid work at home resume should address. These main points cover the key qualities that make a goods work at home employee and are the basic things an employer is looking for. The resume should point out and give examples of how the person has the following skills:

1. The ability to work independently. Independence is important because when working at home a person has nobody watching them and making sure they are getting their work done.
2. Is a reliable worker. Someone who shows up for work and does their job is going to be able to handle the responsibility of working at home.

3. Is able to meet deadlines. Meeting deadlines is important in working at home because this skill shows a person will be able to do the job assigned to them.

4. Has a creative ability. Creativity is a skill that is looked at by work at home employers because it shows an employee has the ability to create solutions and can handle the often unpredictable world of working at home. It is also a skill that demonstrates a person is a good thinker and will most likely be able to balance home and work.

5. Has the needed experience or education for the job. This needs no major explanation, but is essential to getting the job.

These five points should be covered in every work at home resume. Resumes should also be tailored to each type of work at home job a person is applying for.

Robert Thatcher

10 Boundless Ways To Anchor Down More Sales

1. Persuade visitors to link to your web site. Give
them a freebie in exchange for them linking to your
web site. It could be content, software, etc.

2. Link to web sites that provide useful information
or services for your visitors. If you have many useful
links on your site, they may make it their start page.

3. Spice-up your web site's wording using plenty of
adjectives. It gives your visitors a clearer vision of
what your explaining or describing to them.

4. Don't make your banner ads look like ads. Most
people ignore banner ads. Design them to look like
content and have them click to read the rest.

5. Join affiliate programs that go with the theme of
your web site. You'll just be wasting valuable space
and time if your visitors aren't interested in them.

6. Market your web site as a free club instead of
a web site. This'll increase your repeat visitors and
sales because people enjoy belonging to groups.

7. Interact with your online customers on a regular
basis. This'll show them you care about them. You
could use a chat room, forum or message system.

8. Check your web site links regularly. After people
click on one link, and it doesn't work, they usually
won't risk wasting their time clicking on another one.

9. Give visitors a positive experience when they're
at your web site. Provide them with original content
and free stuff. They'll tell all of their friends about it.

10. Share customers with other businesses that have
the same target audience. Offer their product to your
customers if, in exchange they do the same for you.

Quote of the Day:

"Education is not the piling on of learning, information,
data, facts, skills, or abilities--that's training or
instruction--but is rather a making visible what is hidden
as a seed... To be educated, a person doesn't have to know
much or be informed, but he or she does have to have been
exposed vulnerably to the transformative events of an
engaged human life... One of the greatest problems of our
time is that many are schooled but few are educated." --
Thomas Moore

Logo - An Identity For Your Business

What is a Logo?

Logo is the visual representation of your company or organization. It is the name, symbol, monogram, emblem, trademark or any other graphic representation designed for easy and definitive recognition by your company audience.

Short History

Logo design has its origin in Greece. Ancient Greeks used symbols, which consisted of one or more letters. These typically represented the initial letters of a person or place for use on stationery and signs. Early Greek coins used to bear the logos of rulers and towns. In the middle ages, similar logos were seen in abundance in commercial use.

Merchants in the thirteenth century used these simple letterforms as trademarks. These early examples of logo design include marks for masons, goldsmiths and nobility. By the 1700s, every trader and dealer had a trademark or stamp.

The industrial revolution caused a dramatic gain in the value and importance of trademarks. By the 1950s, with the emergence of national and multinational corporations, trademarks began to move beyond symbols, using larger design systems to unify all communications, to accomplish identifiable goals.

In today's world, company logos have become the faces of business. The general audience has become very responsive to logos and their meanings. Because of the diversity of products and services available today, a well planned and thought-out-logo design is very important to a company's success.

Importance of Logo

Logos trigger people's memories of previous experiences with the company, leaving a greater impact than words alone can do. Logo itself is the simplest and direct way of promoting a business. It describes a company without lengthy explanation. A well-designed logo will help your business to increase visibility and in turn, sales.

What makes a Good Logo

Don't be too flashy and try not to include too much information. These can have a negative impact. Complex designs representing all aspects of your business and long tag lines are fine in their place, but not as part your logo. The logo type and imagery should be instantly recognizable, up close and at a distance.

Logos with rich colors and rich illustrations may be difficult to use in certain applications. A good logo design should consider all potential implementations.

Your company logo design should be distinct to make your company stand out of the crowd. Using common or fashionable styles goes against the purpose of having a logo and can even have a negative backlash among your audience, who can view your company as unimaginative.

Keeping Your Website Content Moving

The logic here is that a site that has been updated in the last month is going to be more relevant that a site that has not been updated for over a year.

Keeping your website content up-to-date not only reflects your organisation in a good light to visitors, it can also help you climb the search engine rankings. Adding news features is a great way to tell people who come to your site about how great your business is doing. Keeping your website content up-to-date not only reflects your organisation in a good light to visitors but also makes it look like its cared for and updated regularly.

Simply adding news features about anything that's happening in your business can help keep your site up to date and also keep your customers more informed. Whether that's telling customers and suppliers about big orders you've won, any new products or ranges you have, or how your company will be affected by a recent news story or if you're doing really well any awards you've won or are nominated for.

Just by displaying and featuring a new product or adding to a range you could find that this is the first time someone has realised you actually sell that product or service.

So, other than adding content what else can you do to optimise your site.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tracy_Hildreth

Art of Selling

The art of selling begins with the right selling attitude.

When you combine the right attitude with sharpened selling skills you can achieve everything you want in sales.

There's a lesson from golf I'd like to share with you that may impact your attitude - at least I hope it does.

If you know anything about golf, you know that the U.S. Open was played this past weekend.

It came down to the last hole and the last putt. It was 12 feet long. Sink the putt and you're going to the 18-hole playoff on Monday.

Tiger Woods sank the putt and would meet Rocco Mediate on Monday 18-hole playoff.

I was fortunate enough to play with Rocco 20 years ago in a Ronald McDonald Charity event at the famed Oakmont Country Club.

Rocco has never won a major golf tournament. Tiger Woods has won 14.

So I'm cheering for both guys to win for different reasons.

It got me thinking about inspiration. It doesn't matter if you're a professional golfer or a professional sales representative. We all need to be inspired.

In 1969 Tony Jacklin won the British Open.

In 1970 Tony Jacklin won the U.S. Open.

Several weeks ago he was asked where he got his inspiration from throughout his golfing career.

He said he was inspired by a poem. This poem that inspired Tony Jacklin was written by his caddie John Elnor.

Here's the poem:

If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you don't.

If you would like to win but think you can't, it's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost.

For out in the world, you'll find, success begins in the fellow's will. It's all in a state of mind.

Think big and your deeds will grow.

Think small and you'll fall behind.

Think that you can and you will.

It's all in a state of mind.

Life's battles won't always go to the strong or fast at hand, but sooner or later, the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.

I think it's a terrific poem with a dynamic message for entrepreneurs and salespeople.

Why not read this poem everyday before you make a first sales call.

One of the cornerstones to the art of selling is your selling attitude.

If you think you can you will. If you think you can't you won't.

Why would you ever imagine and think you can't when all it takes is imagining and thinking you can?

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jim_Meisenheimer

Protecting Your Privacy When Working At Home

Operating a business from home does not mean that your life is an open book for the world to read. You will have to set specific boundaries between your work life and your private life in order to insure that your family is not interrupted by your work. You will need to establish specific working hours for your home business and at the end of the day go home. If you let your business consume every waking moment of the day, you will quickly burn out as well as causing an interruption to your family’s life.

If you can afford at the start of your business, have a separate phone line installed that is strictly for business. Use an answering machine for after hours calls and unless a client or customer leaves a message that it is an emergency, call them back the next business day. If possible, do not give out your home telephone number as a contact number. You never know if little Johnny or Susie will answer the phone leaving a bad impression on a potential customer.

There are many services that will cross boundaries between your work life and your private life and understanding where they meet will help you keep your sanity when working from home. When you first start the business, it may be easy for your spouse to ask you to get things done around the house while they are at work. You will need to remind them gently that you will be working and no, you don’t have time to finish the dishes, or throw a load of laundry in the washing machine and you definitely don’t have time to paint the bathroom.

Unless the business requires you to meet with clients and there is no way around it, do not entertain business associates at your home. In fact, clients probably should not even have your home address. Using email and the telephone for client contact is in the best interest for privacy, as you don’t want an irate customer banging on your door while you eat supper with the family. A post office box is not overly expensive and can be used for most shipping and helps protect your family’s privacy.

Remember, this is your business and you need to remember that your spouse and children are not employees. You may be working out of a home office, but it is still your family’s home and you need to make sure you have definite boundaries established. Just as you do not want them crossing into your office space while you are working, you need to show the same respect to your family by not allowing work to cross into their private space.

Copyright © Clifford Brown

Planning a Home Business around a Central Topic

Depending on the kind of person you are, plans for things are going to be either completely familiar to you, somewhat familiar to you, or not at all familiar to you. While it is not necessary to have a completely detailed home business plan before you start (especially if your home business is online, but also if it happens to be offline), there are some things that you should generally be aware of at the very least before you take towards building up your home business.

The first of those things has to do with figuring out the topic that your home business is going to be on. This is not a topic in terms of something that a book needs to have, but rather a topic in terms of what your home business is going to be about. For example, if a person wanted to open a Hobbie shop, then there would be a Crafts topic to their home business. If someone wanted to blog, then the topic would be whatever they wanted to blog about. There are a number of different topics available out there today and choosing one for your home business is perhaps the most important thing you can plan ahead of time.

Now, when most people are choosing the topic of their home business, they tend to use one of two methods. They will either choose a home business topic that they are very familiar with, love doing and would really have no problem doing for free, or alternatively they will choose a home business topic that they think would generate a lot of interest in the demographics that they can reach. If you are on the internet, then the demographic you can reach is endless, whereas if you are off the internet, then you need to be aware of the people that live near wherever your home business happens to be.

While these two methods of home business topic choosing both have their ups and their downs, neither one is inherently better than the other. There are certain situations (i.e. blogging for a profit) where one might be obviously indicated as being the better one, but for the most part you can get along choosing either of those two things.

That idea brings us to the big question; how do you know which one of the two methods you should choose? Well, it once again depends on the type of person you are. If you are a free spirit, not really interested in too much planning and willing to take a chance just to see where it takes you, then choosing something that appeals to you and that you would do for free might be the way to go. If you are the meticulous type and are good at keeping things organized, then it would seem that going for the more likely profit would be a better idea. It largely depends on you and while neither of the two choices is wrong, it is very important that you are confident in the choice you make.

Copyright © Clifford Brown

How To Become A Private Investigator

You have seen them on television and in the movies. They use their knowledge and skills to solve cases when no one else can, and have exciting and challenging work.As a private investigator you too can enjoy challenging work that helps people in a meaningful way. Whether you're reuniting an adoptee with her birth parents, helping to solve a computer crime, or keeping an innocent man out of jail, the work of a private investigator can make a big difference to many people's lives. In addition to the other rewards of this job, the potential exists for a successful investigator to earn up to $100,000 a year.If you are interested in breaking into this career, here are some steps you can follow, based on the FabJob Guide to Become a Private Investigator.1. Develop your detective skillsVital skills for a private investigator include observation and listening skills, critical thinking (you don't just take information at face value), research skills, problem-solving ability, and verbal and written communication skills. It also helps if you have computer skills and can take photographs. Many of these skills can be self-taught with online resources.2. Consider taking a courseA criminal justice background or education can be a big help in getting hired. There are many private investigator training courses available, including some you can take online. Make sure you investigate any course to ensure you get what you pay for - consider it your first PI assignment.3. Learn about licensing requirementsIn most cases, the only qualification you absolutely need to become a private investigator is a license from your state or province to operate as an agent. Generally, this will require you to be 18 years of age, of sound mind and with a clean criminal record. In some states you may also need to pass a course or exam. Licensing for PIs varies from state to state (and province to province), so make sure you find out what is required to operate in your area. Your local police service, government, or PI association should be able to direct you to what is required.4. Get experienceStart by taking stock of the experience you already have. If you have ever worked in any kind of legal or research position, or done security work, you are already a step ahead of the competition. However, almost any experience could be helpful at some point. For example, if you have ever worked in retail, you might be able to do undercover work at a department store. If you feel your experience is limited, consider asking a working PI to serve as a mentor to you and guide you towards success.5. Find job openingsOnce you have some experience, your next step will likely be finding work with an agency or other employer. You can contact PI agencies, lawyers and insurance firms in your area to meet with them and offer your services. If you aren't having much luck, initially offering your services for free might help you land your first few cases and get you on your way.6. Start working towards a specialtyMany private investigators choose an area to specialize in, such as missing persons, background investigations, computer crime, executive protection, forensics, or insurance fraud, among others. When you are starting out, get involved in a variety of cases and see what satisfies or interests you the most. Most successful PIs eventually choose an area or two of specialization and set out to establish themselves as experts on these topics.7. Set up your own agencyMany private investigators eventually choose to start their own agency. Even though not all states require it, it is a good idea to get a few years' investigative experience under your belt before you go into business for yourself. Also, make sure that you plan adequately for marketing your agency, as this is an area many would-be PIs overlook - cases will not fall into your lap, so be prepared to market yourself to potential clients through a variety of methods.8. Become an expert in your fieldOnce your agency is up and running, you need to continue to develop yourself as a private investigator to stay current and competitive. One of the best ways to do this is to become a recognized expert in your field. This can be accomplished through methods such as presenting seminars to local business groups, publishing articles, and getting involved with local and national PI associations. Once you an the expert in your chosen niche, you may find yourself so busy that you will be hiring PIs yourself just to keep up!

Working From Home With Your Family

Many people think of working from home as a way to simply make the money that they need to make in order to pay the bills so that their family can live as comfortably as possible. Too many times when someone is working from home, they take their family for granted and the family starts to feel as if the work from home job might take up just as much of their loved ones time and energy than a job would if they were going to it.
Also, it is way too easy for someone to take on too much work as they work from home, because they might be tempted to simply work all day and all night and will forget to take the time to be away from work. Having a job at home means that you are never away from your job, which can be very dangerous. There are several ways to make sure that your family does not get lost in the shuffle when it comes to you working from home.

First of all, you can figure out a family business that everyone can get involved in. Even the youngest family members can help to pick out products or to box and ship things that have been purchased. You can get your entire family involved because there are things to be learned for all, and there are tasks that can be accomplished at each level. If your family is involved in your work from home business, you might find that you are able to actually make work into something that everyone can be a part of, and it will ott be so much work anymore.
Another thing that you can do is to make your work time correspond with the times where your family is doing something else. Try to get your work done while the kids are at school or after they have gone to sleep. Try not to be working all of the time, remember that even though you are working from home you should not be spending all of your time in your office or your shop.
There should be times that are designated as times that are not for working, and you should be sure that you are sticking by the rules that you have set for yourself so that you do not get burned out. Remember that working from home should be something that is enjoyable to you and something that benefits your family and yourself. It is not going to do anybody any good if you work at home and you are not able to enjoy yourself or your life. In order to convince the interviewer that you are the best person for the job, you must prepare and rehearse your answers meticulously.

Study the job description and the candidate profile; research the company; and match your skills and accomplishments to the employer's requirements.

When preparing your answers, consider what each question is designed to find out about the candidate's suitability for the position on offer.

1. Why are you leaving your current job?

The employer is seeking to identify problems you have had in the past that you may carry over into your new job. Always cite positive reasons for joining and leaving a company. Never criticize your previous employer or work colleagues. Avoid statements that may convey a negative impression of yourself or your ability to get on with others. State that you are looking for a new challenge and briefly explain why you see the advertised position as an important step forward in your career.

2. Why should we employ you rather than one of the other candidates?

The interviewer wants to know what unique quality makes you the best person for the job. To differentiate yourself from the other candidates, you must show that you have researched the company thoroughly and studied the job description. You should be prepared to demonstrate clearly how your skills, qualifications, and accomplishments match the employer's specific needs. It is important to convey genuine enthusiasm for the post.

3. What are your strenghts and weaknesses?

This particularly tricky question requires painstaking preparation and rehearsal. The interviewer is looking for evidence of critical self-assessment and a commitment to continuous self-development. Stress specific job-related strengths and accomplishments. Select one weakness that could be viewed both as positive and negative, e.g. you are a perfectionist who tends to work too long hours. Show, by particular example, how you have successfully addressed this tendency. Make sure to portray yourself in a positive light. Never mention a weakness that is directly related to job for which you are being interviewed.

4. Tell me about yourself.

The interviewer wants to know how well suited you are to the job and how you can benefit the company. Spend no longer than two minutes answering this question. By analysing the job description and carrying out detailed company research in advance, you will have a clear idea of the ideal candidate. Focus on your skills, qualifications, and accomplishments that relate to the advertised position. Remember that the company has a problem and they are looking for the best solution. Prove to them that you can solve their problem better than anyone else.

5. Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

This question is designed to determine your career plan. Have you well planned short-term and long-term career goals? Is the advertised position consistent with these? If hired, are you likely to commit yourself fully to the company or will you seize the first opportunity to move on? Show that you have a structured way of establishing goals. Demonstrate the importance of the job on offer as part of your career progression. Stress that you are ambitious, but realistic. Let them know that you plan to develop professionally within the company and to work energetically to obtain promotion.

6. Why do you want to work for our company?

The interviewer is trying to discover how much you know about the company. Once again, detailed company research will pay handsome dividends when it comes to answering this question. The candidate who displays a knowledge of the company and an awareness of the challenges it faces is more likely to be selected than the tongue-tied interviewee who looks perplexed when asked why he or she wants to work for that particular company.
You should find out as much as you can about the company's organisational structure; its financial history; its range of products, goods or services; its aims and objectives; its philosophy and culture; its trading methods; its history, current position, and future developments; its competitors; its training programmes; its attitude towards its customers; its achievements; and any problems it may have. Tailor your answer in terms of their needs not yours.

Be positive. Say that you like what you've heard about the company and the way they treat their staff and customers. Stress that you are confident that you can make a meaningful contribution.

20 Internet Marketing And Ecommerce Facts

1.
